I painted a highly detailed portrait of the fantastic painter, Otto Frello. www.leahrobb.com It was such a big challenge and achievement that it exhausted me and I lost my will to paint for several months afterwards. Suddenly and very unexpectantly I started to play with paint again. These pictures display different moods. For me they are a liberating change from working with such high detail and precision I used in Frello's portrait. It will be hard to find another motif to inspire this level of commitment to any single artwork. So in the meantime, I hope this experimental phase will in itself bring pleasure to art-lovers, but also hope it will open up new possibilities for me as an artist.
This series is made predominantly with gold spray paint, pencil and offwhite paint on black paper.
