Arnþrúður Ösp Karlsdóttir
Arnþrúður Ösp Karlsdóttir is an Icelandic artist, from Reykjavík.
Arnþrúður is active as a textile artist, teaching fibers and art education. She has had both solo and group exhibitions in Iceland, Scandinavia, and USA. Since 1998 she has been a member of ARKIR a book art group. She is a member of SIM, The Association of Icelandic Artists.
She lives in Reykjavík, Iceland and works and creates in her studio at Korpúlfstaðir in Reykjavík. She graduated in 1991 from the Icelandic College of Art and Craft and taught in the textile department at that school from 1994-1999, and in Reykjavik School of Visual art from 2010-2017, and was Director of Teacher Education for artists for Iceland Academy of Arts from 2000-2010.
In her art making she works with thread and traditional textile and fiber techniques including knitting, crochet and embroidery using traditionally spun wool or linen thread that she hand dyes, she also works with alternative materials such as paper and plastic as thread and yarn, adding to the depth of both her traditional and contemporary artistry.
