Most of my exhibited works are woodcut prints: The image is cut in
a block of wood and paint is applied to the surface of the wood. The paint is transferred from wood to paper in a press.Once a series of prints is made, additional details can be cut in the wood. The printing process is repeated with a different color on top of the previous prints. This enables the artist to create
shades of colors in the finished image.
Once the artist advances to the second round, it will no longer
be possible to make reprints from the same piece of wood. Moreover the paint has to be reapplied each time the plate goes through the press. Variations will occur by chance or on purpose. This means that even in a series each print will be unique.
